Size-controllable Ni5TiO7 nanowires as promising catalysts for CO oxidation
نویسندگان
چکیده
Ni5TiO7 nanowires with controllable sizes are synthesized using PEO method combined with impregnation and annealing at 1050(o)C in air, with adjustment of different concentrations of impregnating solution to control the dimension of nanowires. The resulting nanowires are characterized in details using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray analysis. In addition, the CO catalytic oxidation performance of the Ni5TiO7 nanowires is investigated using a fixed-bed quartz tubular reactor and an on-line gas chromatography system, indicating that the activity of this catalytic system for CO oxidation is a strong dependency upon the nanocrystal size. When the size of the Ni5TiO7 nanowires is induced from 4 μm to 50 nm, the corresponding maximum conversion temperature is lowered by ~100 (o)C.

Catalysts with the formula of LaCo(1+x)O(3+δ), where 0 ≤ x ≤ 1, were studied for oxidation of CO and C2H6 in a synthetic exhaust gas, comprising 6.0 % CO and 0.2 % C2H6 in Ar. Ethane was selected as a model for hydrocarbons in the exhaust gas. The performance of catalysts is correlated to their properties, particularly their ...
متن کاملCatalytic Oxidation of Carbon Monoxide by Cobalt Oxide Catalysts Supported on Oxidized-MWCNT
Cobalt oxide catalysts supported on oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) for the low-temperature catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide were prepared by an impregnation-ultrasound method. These catalysts were characterized by N2 adsorption/desorption, TEM, XRD, Raman, and H2-TPR methods. The XRD and Raman results indicated that the phase of the synthesized cobalt...
متن کاملCatalytic oxidation of CO by platinum group metals: from ultrahigh vacuum to elevated pressures
CO oxidation over platinum group metals has been investigated for some eight decades by many researchers and is considered to be the best understood catalytic reaction. Nevertheless, there has been a renewed interest in CO oxidation recently because of its technological importance in pollution control and fuel cells. Removal of COx from automobile exhaust is accomplished by catalytic converters...
متن کاملActivity of Cu-Co-M (M= Ce, Ni, Au, Mg) catalysts prepared by coprecipitation method, calcined at high temperature for CO oxidation
The present study deals with analysis of the activity of catalysts prepared by addition of different metals to Copper and Cobalt based catalysts for CO oxidation and the variation in activity caused by changes in composition. A series of catalysts were prepared with Cu:Co molar ratio 1:4 and a third metal (M= Ce, Ni, Au, Mg) was added in three different quantities. Compositions were prepared by...

The effects of electronic properties of inner and outer surfaces of Carbon Nano Tubes (CNTs) on the deactivation of cobalt Fischer-Tropsch (FT) catalysts were studied. The comparative characterization of the fresh and used catalysts by TEM, XRD, TPR, BET and H2 chemisorption showed that cobalt re-oxidation, cobalt-support interactions and sintering are the main sources o...
